A Weekend Route Worth Taking
Two days, one coastal road, and a small list of stops we keep returning to — with directions you can follow without a data signal.

If you have a weekend and a car, this is the route we send friends on. It is not a secret — locals have driven it for years — but the pacing is what makes it worth writing down.
Day one
Leave in the morning. The first hundred kilometres are the least interesting, so put on something long. After that the road tightens against the coast and the driving begins in earnest.
Where to stop
A bakery in the third town along the route makes the kind of pastry that justifies a small detour. Further on, a lookout with no signage but a wide pull-off — you will know it when you see it.
Day two
Turn inland. The hills are quieter, the corners longer, and the light in the afternoon is the reason people invented the word golden. Aim to be back before dark. The car will be tired. You will be, too, in the good way.
